October Walk

Date: Saturday 27th October 2012

Meet: in the garden of George and Dragon, Church Lane, Shutford, Banbury OX15 6PG.  Tel:01295 780320

Length: About 7 miles long, a bit longer than usual.

Terrain: lots of ups and downs and stiles.

About 5 or 6 miles long.
Boots are always advisable.

September Walk - Radley

Radley Walk Date: Saturday September 15th, 2012.
From: car park of The Bowyer Arms, Foxborough Road, Radley. OX14 3AE
Meet: 10.30am to start at about 10.45am

Route: From Radley the route goes through Lower Radley, then across fields to follow the Thames Path to beyond Sandford on Thames.  Then across to Kennington and through woods back to Radley.
Terrain: mostly flat with a couple of slight inclines.  Can't remember about stiles but the footbridge over the railway line at Kennington has quite steep steps.  Some of the field paths are very muddy.  Quiet roads and tracks make up the rest of the route.
Length of walk: about 6 miles long. 
Dogs: well behaved welcome.
Boots: advisable.
Lunch: at The Bowyer Arms.

August Walk - Wallingford

Wallingford Walk with train ride from Cholsey to Wallingford

Date: Saturday August 25th, 2012.
From: car park of Wallingford Railway Station, 5 Hithercroft Road, Wallingford, OX10 9GQ.
Meet:  10.30am to start at about 10.45am

Route: From Wallingford to get onto the Thames Path the route passes through Winterbrook, nearby to where Agatha Christie lived.  From the river it then goes to Cholsey including a visit to the churchyard, where Agatha Christie is buried, before ending up at the railway station to catch the Heritage train back to Wallingford.
Terrain: The walk is flat with no stiles and uses tracks, field paths and quiet roads. 
Added interest: train trip on Cholsey and Wallingford Heritage Railway
Length of walk: about 5 miles long. 
Dogs: well behaved welcome, even on the train
Boots: advisable.
Lunch: bacon sandwiches at Wallingford Station tea room

Bridewell Walk

Date: Saturday July 21st, 2012.
From: Bridewell Organic Gardens, a walled garden and five-acre vineyard at Wilcote, near Witney in West Oxfordshire. OX7 3EB
Meet: about 10.30am to start at 10.45am

Directions: Take the turning off the A4095 between Witney and Long Hanborough, Boddington Lane, sign posted to East End.  Continue straight on Boddington Lane, don't turn right to East End but continue on the single track road towards Wilcote for about 2 miles.  Then bare left at a triangular junction, again towards Wilcote.  The parking is on the left about 200 yards up the hill after a slight right hand bend at Bridewell Farm.

Parking: Bridewell Gardens, Vineyard Gate.  Look for the scarecrow!

Length of walk: about 5 miles led by Cotswold Warden, Ian Gourlay, pointing out many aspects of natural history, geology and local history.
Dogs: well behaved welcome, on short lead in the gardens.
Boots: advisable.
Lunch: picnic at Bridewell Gardens undercover if necessary!
