January 2019 Walk Lower Brailes

Date: Saturday 29th January 2019
Meet: car park The George Inn, 1 High St, Lower Brailes, Banbury OX15 5HN.  01608 685788
Time: 10.15am for 10.30am start
Length: about 6 miles
Route: circular to Upper Brailes, round Brailes Hill back to Lower Brailes
Terrain: undulating several ups and downs some quite steep
              5 high stiles and muddy
              ground also muddy making inclines particularly slippy
              very wet in places
Boots: advisable for grip and support
Dogs: well behaved welcome but on leads if near livestock
Lunch: about 1.30pm at The George Inn

November 2018 Walk - Stanton St John

Date: Saturday 24th November 2018
Meet: car park The Star, Middle Rd., Stanton St John, Oxford OX33 1EX
Time: 10.15am for 10.30am start
Length: about 5 miles
Route: circular north to a section of the Oxfordshire Way, south to Forest Hill and back to Stanton St John
Terrain: fairly flat with a couple of gentle inclines, a few stiles, some in reasonable condition, bridges with wooden planks that could be very slippy.  Expect mud!
Boots: advisable whatever the conditions
Dogs: well behaved welcome but on leads if near livestock
Lunch: about 1.15pm at The Star

October 2018 - Bishopstone

Date: Saturday 27th October 2018
Meet: The Royal Oak, Cues Lane, Bishopstone, Swindon SN6 8PP.  Tel: 01793 790481
Time: 10.15am to start at 10.30am
Length: about 6½ miles
Route/Terrain: steady climb up to the Ridgeway.  The Ridgeway itself is fairly flat with only very slight inclines.  The route down to Ashbury is a bit steep in places.  Then flat back to Bishopstone
Boots: advisable
Dogs: well behaved welcome but on leads if near livestock
Lunch: at The Royal Oak for about 1.30pm

August 2018 Walk Weston on the Green

Date: Saturday, August 25th, 2018
Meet: The Chequers, Weston-on-the-Green
Time: 10.30am start
Length: 6½ miles
Route: north east towards Kirtlington, south beyond Bletchingdon, back to Weston on the Green.
Terrain: generally flat, one slight incline.  A few stiles in reasonable condition but one bridge that’s a bit wonky.  Some overgrown sections bordered by nettles.
Boots: ground is very dry with large cracks so walking boots advisable to give ankle support
Dogs: well behaved welcome but on leads if near livestock
Lunch: about 1.30pm at The Chequers

Meet: Fox and Goat, Oxford Rd, Tiddington, Thame OX9 2LH
Time: 10.15 am for 10.30 am start
Length: about 6.5 miles
Route: circular south to Albury and following sections of the Oxfordshire Way and Thame Valley Way, via Oxfordshire golf course and then Rycote Chapel.
Terrain: fairly flat, with a few style and some overgrown stretches.

Route: From Cold Aston to picturesque villages of Turkdean and Notgrove with beautiful vistas

Terrain: Cotswolds so typically up and down but nothing too extreme
